Frequently Asked Questions
Which GRP grating height (thickness) is right for my project?

To make your selection as easy as possible, we have categorized our GRP gratings for you according to typical areas of application:

  • 13 mm to 25 mm (For light loads & pedestrians):
Perfect for private areas or as a non-slip covering on existing, solid floors.
Typical projects: Balcony floors, walkways by garden ponds, simple light shaft covers, or renovating slippery paths.
  • 30 mm to 38 mm (The all-rounder for commercial, construction & industrial use):
Our absolute standard and bestseller. Choose these heights when the grating is installed self-supporting (i.e., only resting on the edges) and needs to withstand a lot.
Typical projects: Stair treads, platforms, work platforms, car washes, or paths that are occasionally driven on by a hand pallet truck.
  • 50 mm and more (The heavy-duty class):
When things get serious. These gratings offer maximum stability and hardly bend even with very large spans and extreme weights.
Typical projects: Driveways for cars, trucks, or forklifts, as well as large industrial facilities with wide support distances.

Tip: How much a grating can withstand depends not only on its height but also on how far apart the support points of your substructure (the span) are. If you are unsure, simply use our contact form or request a personalized quote – we will be happy to advise you on your project!

What is the safest way to install GRP grating and floor panels?

For open gratings, it is best to use our special stainless steel grating clamps (V2A/V4A). These grip perfectly into the 38x38 mm mesh and fix the grating rust-free and storm-proof to the substructure.

If you want to install our closed GRP floor plates or stair treads, we recommend our weather-resistant 2K epoxy adhesive for a bomb-proof hold without drilling – alternatively, these can also be conventionally screwed.

Can I cut or modify GRP products myself?

Yes, absolutely! Glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) can be worked with similarly to hardwood.

For on-site adjustments, a standard angle grinder with a diamond cutting disc or a jigsaw with a carbide blade is sufficient.

If you want to save yourself the work on the construction site: simply use our individual cutting service directly from South Hesse! We deliver all gratings and plates ready for installation.

What tolerances apply to GRP custom cutting?

We produce your custom cuts at our location in Southern Hesse using state-of-the-art special saws (diamond cutting discs) to ensure particularly clean cut edges.

  • General Tolerance: We work with millimeter precision and a very small, industry-standard tolerance of +/- 2 to 3 mm.
  • Special Feature for Gratings: When planning, please note that for custom cuts, we often have to cut "freely" through the grating (so-called open edges) to achieve your exact desired dimensions. If your project absolutely requires a "mesh-accurate" separation (closed bars all around), please briefly indicate this in your individual inquiry. We will then plan the cut accordingly for you.
How is the shipment made?

To ensure your GRP products arrive quickly and undamaged, we select the optimal and most cost-effective shipping method for you based on size and weight:

  • Parcel & Bulky Goods Shipping: Smaller cut-offs, plates, and standard gratings are shipped securely packaged as insured parcels (or bulky goods for lengths of 1,200 mm or more).
  • Freight Shipping (Palletized Goods): For large quantities, heavy individual items, or complex large-scale projects, we deliver your goods securely strapped to a pallet via freight forwarder.

Important for your planning: For freight deliveries, our logistics partner usually notifies you of the delivery in advance via email or phone. This allows you to perfectly plan for goods receipt at your delivery address or construction site.
